Local and Eco-friendly
Located in Old Strathcona, our microgreens are produced right in the heart of the city and delivered to local restaurants and private homes. Consequently, transport costs and CO2 emissions are greatly reduced.
Strathcona Microgreens uses vertical farming techniques, which promote the creation of a sustainable urban environment. This farming method minimizes water usage, doesn’t need any chemical or pesticide and improves biodiversity by not causing land surface disturbances (e.g. forest fragmentation, monoculture). We exclusively use highly efficient LED lighting to consume the least amount of power per unit of light emitted.
We believe that organic food is the best bet for your health and for our planet’s health. We grow with organic practices in mind using 100% organic seeds, filtered water and nutrient-rich soil.
Safeguard the future
The price nature has to pay for sustaining our food demand has become too high. Deforestation, loss of biodiversity and pollution are only a few of the consequences of intensive agriculture and meat/fish production. We need new efficient methods of producing foods, leaving enough space for nature to express its best skills: resiliency, diversity and self-sufficiency.
Packaging is one of the biggest issues to reduce a product’s footprint. All of our container are made from eco-friendly, plant-based material.
They are biodegradable and 100% compostable!
